36 Riders Set Off from Irun for Iberica-Traversa 2026

On 20 September 2026, 36 riders lined up in Irun, Spain, for the start of the Iberica-Traversa 2026.

15 riders started the Gravel & Trail route
20 riders started the Road route
6 riders will continue beyond Tarifa towards Sidi Ifni, Morocco – 3 from the Gravel & Trail route and 3 from the Road route

The riders were welcomed by perfect conditions in Irun: sunshine, clear skies and pleasant temperatures. After the heatwave that affected Spain in the weeks before the event, temperatures had finally dropped, creating much more comfortable conditions for the start.

The day before the start were all about rider registration, preparations and meeting fellow participants. On Saturday evening, the riders gathered for dinner in Irun before getting ready for the start the following morning.

On Sunday, the 36 riders set off on their individual journeys south. The Gravel & Trail and Road routes follow two different courses, each offering its own challenges and landscapes across the Iberian Peninsula.

Classic Iberica-Traversa – finish in Tarifa: 1,723 km / 29,427 m elevation gain
2-Continents – finish in Sidi Ifni, Morocco: 4,023 km / 52,427 m elevation gain

Road

Classic Iberica-Traversa – finish in Tarifa: 1,812 km / 27,325 m elevation gain
2-Continents – finish in Sidi Ifni, Morocco: 4,212 km / 53,325 m elevation gain

For six riders, the journey does not end in Tarifa. Three Gravel & Trail riders and three Road riders will continue on the 2-Contienents route into Morocco, adding more than 2,000 kilometres to their Iberian adventure before reaching Sidi Ifni.
