Donncha Cuttriss is coming for Iberica Traversa 2021! He is an experienced finisher of many international ultracycling races. Donncha is an old school racer! Despite competitive spirit he somehow finds and makes time on route to enjoy local culture and habits. Like during #moroccobikeadventure sipping tea for hours with a Berber shepherd in the High Atlas mountains. Some say he is pretty fast on the bike! See you soon, Donncha!

5th rider at the start of this years Iberica-Traversa: Irena Sosinska

Irena decided 3 days before the start, to go for the Iberica-Traversa. Irena is no stranger in bikpaking, she finished the Transam Bike Race 2016 as 4th woman and traveled with her bike all over the world. So she cycled through Siberia to China, Tibet and the Mount Everest base camp. After Irena climbed Kilimandscharo with here bike, the last several months she had not much possibilities to ride here bike.

2 weeks before the start, she rode first time a mountain bike and for the Iberica-Traversa, she borrowed all the gear, bike included. Luck of training and not perfectly fittet bike, Irena scratched after 400km and 7000 vertical meter in the morning of 3th day. She liked the route a lot and was surprised about the gorgeous scenery showing up behind every corner.

“The route is beautifully/perfectly crafted. It’s a dream for every bikepacker!”

We look forward to see Irena soon again at the start line in Sain-Jean-de-Luz and wondering what othe adventures she will showup next year.

Frank Becker

An experienced ultra biking adventurer, well known for competing and finishing in #hope1000 and #frenchdivide.

Frank kept strong riding in his 3rd position until mechanical bike issues forced him to leave the route and seek for a new cable.It took the whole day to get the bike fixed.

Despite all the issues he returned to the route and continued #ibericatraversa2020 adventure.

Frank finished his journey across Iberian peninsula in beautiful, picturesque Camino del Rey! Running out of time to catch his plane back home he had turned directly to Malaga.

We are looking forward to see Frank next year!

The 3rd finisher of Ibericatraversa 2020 – Christian Bach.

Christian is no stranger to bike packing adventures and this time he made a great journey participating in #it2020.He became a friend to wild boars and deers – night visitors at his bivy.

He slipped on a stone while crossing a small river and got soaking wet.

He was sleeping in the wild under the milky way and shooting stars.He didn’t think twice once a new obstacle appeared on the road – closed bridge – quickly took his shoes off, grabbed his bike and carried it across the river.

He did a total of 1713 km and nearly 30000 m climbing! Each and every day he kept saying how tough yet breathtaking the route is.

Despite rough conditions Christian still made time to take plenty of beautiful photos and videos and share them with family, friends and supporters! Christian’s story comes through posting cool/ funny short descriptions from each day of the Ibericatraversa 2020.

He completed #it2020 in an amazing time of 9 days 16 hours and 30 minutes!

2nd finisher of Ibericatraversa 2020 – Michele Miani!

He is dedicated to ultra endurance bikepacking adventures, actively participating and had finished several internationally well known bike events! He is a winner of last year #NorthCape4000.

For #ibericatraversa2020 he didn’t take sleeping gear and cut few pounds of equipement weight, instead he was having strategic power naps at random places he found on the route ( a bench in the middle of small town, abandoned sofa in the forest etc.) His bike including the entire gear was just 12 kg.

His relentless efforts brought him to the finish line in amazing time of only 7 days 6 hours 15 minutes!

Shortly after the finish ceremonies of Ibericatraversa 2020 he enjoyed fresh salad and left directly to the airport to be back to his beloved wife and three sons.

Congratulations Michele! Bravissimo!

Aleksander Pachulski of Poland:

Despite 2 broken spokes, problem with the saddle, 2 crashes! his high spirits and instinct for adventure brought him to the finish line in Tarifa in an impressive time of 7 days 2 hours and 20 minutes. Aleksander described #ibericatraversa2020 bikepacking adventure “…. it’s tough! But it’s definitely the most beautiful route I’ve ever experienced!”
